A smile as wide as Glasgow.

I’m not much of a moviegoer, maybe because I’m better entertained by a book. But, well, every once in a while a film or two catches my fancy.

I don’t claim to be a connoisseur, a lot of the movies that I found entertaining did not fall in the same category as, say, Citizen Kane.  The Expendables, for example, had me impressed because a group of grandfathers who’d managed to keep themselves fit through the years, actually decided to be rid of popular opinion and made a film where they could just walk away from explosions in a sort of I’ll-be-always-awesome-even-if-I’m-a-grandfather kind of way.

Nobody noticed The Royal Tenenbaums, though I thought it was beautiful. My young mind, too, had been captivated by Waterworld though, many remember it to be a flop. At least, The Shawshank Redemption is in my top five.

Anyway, let me just say that for Batman films, however, whatever the rating or review. I don’t really care. I just watch it. Because, well… he’s BATMAN! Up there is a tribute to Heath Ledger and a bit of a thank you to Christopher Nolan for the wonderful film adaptation.

If anyone was wondering, Heath Ledger’s version of the Joker sports the Glasgow Smile because the practice was said to have originated from Glasgow, Scotland. That’s what it’s called and I’ll never see Glasgow the same way again.
